Private services
If you can afford them, private cleaners, gardeners and handymen can help your person maintain their home and garden. The cleaners, gardeners and handymen can do jobs that might be difficult or dangerous for you or your person such as making beds, cleaning blinds and mowing lawns.
- Private cleaners usually cost around $25 to $60 per hour.
- Private gardeners cost from $25 to $100 an hour depending on what you need them to do.
- Private handymen charge between $40 and $100 an hour.
To find a private service, ask your neighbours and local friends for recommendations. Private services are often advertised in the local newspaper, through letterbox drops, and online such as Airtasker. This link shows you how Airtasker works.
Government funded services
Your person may be eligible for subsidised help through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (or via My Aged Care, if over 65 years old).
Local Councils and non-government organisations may also provide services to keep you active and connected to your community.
